The official Ohio Counseling Association podcast. Our mission is to host experts from our membership, leadership, and throughout the counseling field to bring listeners relevant conversations around what it means to be a counselor in Ohio. In addition, this podcast will provide a platform for Ohio Counseling Association divisions, chapters, and committees to share information and updates. Made for counselors by counselors, we hope to highlight important conversations in the profession that will inform our work as we continue to grow as professionals and as people. Our 6th conversation continues the Meet the President Series with the 2023-2024 OCA President––Dr. Sherdene Simpson, Ph.D, LPCC-S, MFT. Dr. Simpson received her masters from Kent State University, doctoral degree from The University of Akron, and is now a faculty member at Florida Gulf Coast University. She has a private practice on the west side of Cleveland. She has been a counselor for sixteen years, approaching her work from a systemic perspective with specialties in grief, relationship issues, and faith-based counseling. During her term as the 2022-2023 OCA President Elect, she served as chair of the OCA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Cultural Dignity Committee (DEICDC). Dr. Simpson is passionate about holding space to self-reflect and engage in brave dialogue in an increasingly diverse society. Join us to hear more about her vision as the OCA President and the importance of connecting with others in our communities.
